I picked this short story because I had previously read "Two Necromancers, a Bureaucrat, and an Elf" by Estrella and I had loved that story. It made me laugh, snort even, and took me to a world I had never visited before. "The Gunslingers and the Necromancer" is also good but not humorous like 2nb&e but it definitely is a good story. The protagonist is Elizabeth Stanton a/k/a Lizzie a Bounty Hunter for the Church during the time period of the wild west era. She is contracted by a man named Jake Taylor from a nearby town who is having zombie problems. This is right up Lizzie's alley.Before she leaves the town she has met Jake in, she goes by the local church to stock up on weapons. The church not only has a warehouse of arms but the priest wears a sidearm as well. She gathers up what she needs and leaves with Jake and when they get to Pine Creek she finds out that the town is so small there is no mayor. Most of the families are farmers and ranchers. She teams up with Jake and another man by the name of Walter to take on the zombies. They get into a fight with some zombies and a hell hound. Lizzie figures out a necromancer is controlling the zombies and she sets out to find out that is.
This is a fast paced action adventure story set in the wild west. The plot is engaging and the characters likeable and heroic. Although everyone in Pine Creek seemed a little skeptical of a woman taking care of the zombies, they learn to trust and respect her. Overall it is a good tightly written story which you can easily read in an hour or two. I enjoyed it very much.

A quick and fun short story...
It sets up an interesting world but not long enough to developer characters or story. A good sample to read before buying.
Good read, made me want to read the next book in the series.
This piece just needs some more pages. Like, much more. Being a series must fix this. Everything else is perfect.

Were there gunslingers in Canada? I think of gunslingers as a feature of the American West. Yet, this is a fantasy world so tea and scones (not a feature of the Old West) along with British spellings (honour) occasionally jarred the senses. Possibly setting it in a world would help. Other than that, Bravo!
